Mr. Joel Thomas Howell, 88, of Glendale Drive, Hartwell, formerly of Jackson, husband of Patricia Ann Wallace Bryant Howell, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Howell was born in Hartwell on May 14, 1935, son of the late Marvin Thomas Howell and Lorene Eavenson Howell. He was a retired car salesman, and after retirement, worked in the garden center at Wal-Mart. Joel was an avid attendee of estate sales who enjoyed collecting various items. He also enjoyed singing
Surviving are his wife, Pat, of the home; daughters: Vicki Herring of Dacula and Donna (Ray) Bolton of Tignall; step-sons: Travis (Nita) Owensby of Royston and Timothy (Tammy) Owensby of Hartwell; siblings: Doyle Howell of Bowersville and Martha Human of Lavoina; his faithful companion, his puppy Molly; six grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Alston Howell, Chandler Howell, Naomi Parks, and Mary Rhodes.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
