This record is from the Annual Report of the Adjutants General of the State of New York for the year 1893, volume 35, page 1166. Which states; Theron Vail, enlisted at the age of 21 on august 14th 1862 at Ellenville, New York, to serve 3 years. He mustered in as Sergeant in Company E 120th New York Infantry. On August 22nd 1862. He was wounded in action on May 10th 1864 at Spotsylvania, Virginia. He then transferred to Company F, First Battalion, 19th Regiment Reserve Corps on August 9th 1864. He was mustered out with the detachment on July 12th 1865 at Elmira, New York. He was also borne as Veil.
