1987 Newspaper Obituary: C. A. (Amos) Simmons, Glencoe, died Saturday in St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 66. Simmons was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Slick, the son of Harvey E. and Elizabeth Chennault-Simmons. He grew up in Oilton, Drumright, and Stillwater. On April 8, 1942, Simmons married Clarice M. Stokes in Tulsa. He served in the U.S. Army's Pacific operations during WWII and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon. Simmons was a tech sergeant at the time of his discharge.

After operating Simmons Shoe Rebuilders in Tulsa for many years, in July, 1972, the family returned to Stillwater to open Simmons Shoe Repair. He is survived by his wife, a son, Randy, and two daughters, Patricia and Mona. Also surviving are three brothers and five sisters; Buddy, Gladys Turner, Harvey , Thelma Hall, Gilbert, Wanda George, Natalie Probis, June Jantzen; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.[Obituary edited for length.]
