FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY FOR BENJAMIN SIMPSON

Benjamin Simpson, lifelong resident of Rushville township, died Saturday night at the State Hospital at Bartonville, where he was taken a few days ago for treatment. His age was 74 years, 2 months and 10 days.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Alexander McFerrin, were held from the home of his sister, Mrs. Columbus Tutt, six miles northeast of Rushville, Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Interment was made in the Chadsey cemetery.

Benjamin Franklin, eldest son of the late George and Nancy Huff Simpson, was born July 12, 1854, on the old homestead farm, eight miles northeast of Rushville.

Here, as a child, he attended the Ackman district school, and, after he had grown to manhood, he remained with his parents and ministered to their wants after the other sons and daughters had left the old home to establish homes of their own.

Following the death of his parents, "Ben," as he was best known by his friends, made his home with his sister, Mrs. Columbus Tutt. In this home he was kind and considerate of the welfare of his sister and her children and the memory of his presence in this home will ever be cherished by the niece and nephews.

Three years ago his health began to fail and recently his condition became serious and complications developing which brought his life to a close on Sept. 22, 1928.

He is survived by five sisters and three brothers; Mrs. Anna Tutt and Mrs. Elizabeth Moore of Rushville, Mrs. Julia Cook of Ray, Mrs. Rebecca McMillen of Ray and Mrs. Sallie Rose of Littleton, Samuel Simpson of Ray, Edgar and Burchard of Rushville township.
