.Beware of the fact that there are two Robert Beans. This Robert Bean 1747-1793 married to Rhoda Lane. Son of William R. Bean 1721-1782 and Lydia Russell 1726-1788

The second Robert Bean 1764-1824 married to Martha Womack. Son of John Bean 1735 (brother of William R. Bean). and Elizabeth Henderson 1750-1809.

Biography ==Robert was born between 1747 and 1750, in Lunenburg county, Virginia ason of William Bean and Lydia Russell.His father was a Judge and honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as Ancestor #A008045. Robert took the Oath of Allegiance to make land entry, in Washington county, North Carolinaon September 26, 1778. GRIFFEY, EARLIEST TN LAND RECS & EARLIEST TN LAND HIST, P 96; NC REV WAR PAY VOUCHERS, #2138, 3952, ROLL #115.68 Robert is honored for his Patriotic Service by the DAR, as ancestor number A119579.

Robert was named Executor of his father's Will. He married Rhoda Layne, daughter of Dutton Layne and Elizabeth (Oaks) Layne. Robert and Rhoda made their home first in Washington county, North Carolina and theninSullivan county, North Carolina, and eventually to Hawkins county, in what was then the "Southwest Territory," in present day Tennessee, where he died in May, 1793. Children of Robert and Rhoda are:

Jesse Bean, born 1784, in Grainger county, Tennessee, made his home in Franklin county, Tennessee
Elizabeth Bean, born 1787, in Grainger county, married John Ellis of Carter county, Tennessee. Applicaton for membership in the Society ofthe DAR have been made by her descendants under National Numbers 762481, 772150, and 972035
Amy Bean, born 1788, married Tidance Lane, born 1762, son of John F. Lane
Robert Bean, II, born 1790, died 1806, in Grainger county, Tennessee
Isaac Bean, born 1793, lived in Franklin county, Tennessee. On June 25, 1811, in Grainger county, Tennessee, Isaac sold some of his father's estate to David Proffitt.
