TOWNSEND - Susan C. (Corkum) Johnson, 65, of Townsend, formerly of Waltham died unexpectedly Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer.
Susan was born in Cambridge, November 22, 1957, a daughter of the late Calvin J. and Margaret (Parks) Corkum and has resided in Townsend for over forty years.
She was a 1975 graduate of Waltham High School and continued her education at Boston University in the Dental Assistant program. Throughout her career, Susan had worked in several dental offices.
Susan was devoted to her family. When her parents were unable to care for themselves, she was always there for them at any time of day or night. Susan was the one everyone turned to for advice, and she could be counted on to truly listen. She created many wonderful memories for family and friends by hosting holiday gatherings, birthday and anniversary parties, and other celebrations. Her most recent role as Nana was one of her favorites. She loved celebrating all of her grandson's "1st" memories including most recently his 1st birthday.
Susan was always up for an adventure, whether going camping, taking a road trip to New York City, or touring Disney World. She was also an accomplished crafter. While Susan particularly loved scrapbooking and needlepoint, she enjoyed learning new things and branched out to other crafts like needle felting.
Her kindness, generosity, and grace enriched the lives of all of those around her.
She leaves her husband of 42 years, Glen C. Johnson; her daughter and son in law, Michelle L. Johnson-Gaillardet and Shawn Gaillardet of Gardner; her son, Steven G. Johnson of Townsend; her two sisters, Deborah Corkum of Billerica, Karen McCue of Manchester, NH; her grandson, Gavin Gaillardet and her two nieces Taylor and Elizabeth.
Susan's family will receive relatives and friends at calling hours from 4-7 PM on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street (Rte 119) Townsend Center. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton.
