Joseph W. Herman Sr., 78, of the Apostolic Christian Home, 7023 NE Skyline Drive, died there at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 1994. Born April 19, 1916, in Harper, Kan., to Joshua and Leah Kisling Herman, he married Lucille E. Hoffmann on Sept. 23, 1945, in Cissna Park. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Herman of Washington, Ill., and Mrs. Robert (Myrna) Hoerr of Germantown Hills; four sons, Roger and Joseph Jr., both of Peoria, Stanley of Palatine and Steven of Washington; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Clarence and Raymond, both of Peoria. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
He worked in the shipping department at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1975. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Peoria.
He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Washington, where services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at Wilton Mortuary, and one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Washington.
