Emmitt C. (Buddy) Hilliard. A well-known Stanley barber, died Wednesday, May 7, at Page Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug 4, 1923 at Stanley and was a son of Joseph and Mabel Turner Hilliard of Stanley.
Mr. Hilliard owned and operated Hilliard Barber Shop in Stanley for 40 years. He was a welder for the Norfolk & Western Railroad four years prior to going into the barbering business.
He was a former member of the Stanley Volunteer Rescue Squad and was serving his second term on the Page County Welfare Board. He had been treasurer of the Stanley Softball League building fund the past seven years.
Mr. Hilliard was a member of Leakes Chapel Church of the Brethren and was a World War II veteran.
On Oct. 30, 1942, he married Myrtle M. Gray.
Daughters: Mrs. Judith Painter, Mrs. Billie Alger, and Mrs. Pat Burner. Brothers: Adolph, Layton, Willard, Lillard, and William. Sisters: Mrs. Marie Dovel Stoneburger, and Mrs. Joyce Comer.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning, May 10, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Dr. Larry Patton and the Rev. Alfred Comer, Jr.
