Johanas was my 5th Great-Grandfather.

John Wunderlich, the 8th child of Johannes and Barbara (Densler) Wunderlich, was born at Ludwigsburg, Wurtemburg, April 14, 1733. At the age of 18 he emigrated to America arriving in Philadelphia in the ship "Duke of Wurtemburg," on October 16, 1751. He settled in what was then Lancaster county, now Lebanon, near Palmyra, Pennsylvania, where he engaged in farming. Later he removed to Cumberland county, near Carlisle, where he died September 3, 1818. January 11, 1757, he was married by Rev. John Casper Stoever, to Maria Elizabeth, second daughter of John Albrecht Siechele and Eva Elisabetha Lnu Siechele. She was born December 13, 1739 and died November 23, 1818.

John Wunderlich and his wife were originally buried in the old Lutheran graveyard at Carlisle, but about 1890 this graveyard was abandoned, and their remains, with those of their sons, John Dietrich and Christopher, were removed to the south-east corner of the addition to the old public graveyard at Carlisle. The original tombstones of brownstone are still standing and are well preserved. John Wunderlich had 11 children.

John Wunderlich served as a Private in the Lancaster County Militia during the Revolutionary War and also took the oath of allegiance.
