John was the owner of Murphy's Sav-Mor Drug. He was a car enthusiast, a lover of drums, and a dedicated family man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Georgia Murphy; and his father-in-law, James E. Aaron.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jamie Aaron Murphy; two daughters, Brandi (Adam) Murphy, and Jacklyn (Evan) Murphy; brother, Mark (Lisa) Murphy of Shelbyville, Tennessee; and one niece, Taylor M. Murphy of Shelbyville.
Friends may pay their respects noon – 3 p.m., Saturday, October 23 at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City. A celebration of life will be held in the future.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of personal choice.
