Funeral services for Rachel Carrington Collins, age 90, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2014 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, with Rev. Danny Geary and Rev. Jerry Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Springs Cemetery near Mercer, TN.
Mrs. Collins died December 5, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born in Decatur County, TN daughter of the late Henry Harrison and Onie Morgan Carrington. Moving to Jackson with her parents, at an early age, she attended J.B. Young School and graduated in 1943. Mrs. Collins was a homemaker and was an Avon Representative for 30 years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Bemis, TN for 35 years.
She was married to Arthur Jefferson Collins on December 27, 1944 and he preceded her in death in November of 1986.
She leaves three sons, Mack Arthur Collins and wife Roseann of Medon, TN, Victor Mahon Collins and wife Ruby of Toone, TN and Tony Leon Collins and wife Louise of Jackson, TN; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; seventeen step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home, (731) 424-2424.
