Durwood Perkins, 59, died Monday, Jan. 30, 1984 in a Murray, Utah hospital.
He was born Dec. 31, 1924, in Montpelier, to W. Louis and Nellie B. Pearce Perkins.
He graduated from Montpelier schools and then attended Air Force cadet training and served as a second lieutenant in the Air Force in World War II. Upon returning home from the war, he attended the University of Idaho.
He married Elaine Bunderson July 17, 1947, in the Logan LDS Temple.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and held many positions during his lifetime, including Sunday School president, MIA president and Ward Clerk in the bishopric. He served on the Montpelier City Council for a number of years, was president of the Montpelier Lions Club and president of the Montpelier Golf Association. He worked as a salesman for Bear Lake Motor Company for 27 years.
He is survived by his wife of Montpelier, a son, Jeffrey D., Sandy, Utah; two daughters, Janice Perkins, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Craig (Julie) Rasmussen, Boise; five grandchildren; and a brother, Douglas, Montpelier. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois, and three brothers, Lowell, Lynn and Phillip.
Funeral services were held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Montpelier First Ward chapel. Burial in the Montpelier Cemetery.
