Ralph J. Brewer, 88, of Muscatine, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 6, at the American Legion Post No. 27 in Muscatine. Burial, with Military Honors by the Honor Guard of Muscatine County, will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time on Saturday at the American Legion.

Memorials may be left to the Honor Guard of Muscatine County in care of American Legion Post No. 27, 110 S. Houser St., Muscatine, IA 52761.

Ralph James Brewer was born January 12, 1935, the son of Archie James and Irene Van Horn Brewer. He married Cintra Verlea Whitehall on July 24, 1957, in Aledo, IL. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2006. He later married Mary Jo Anderson. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2022.

Ralph was a US Army Veteran having served from 1953 – 1956 during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was a flooring installer for many years.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He had served as Chaplain for the VFW Post No. 1565, and was Captain of the Honor Guard of Muscatine County for many years. He had also been a member of the New Boston, IL American Legion.

Ralph enjoyed fishing, woodworking and anything related to honoring and caring for veterans.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his son, Archie (Summer) Brewer of Marion, IA; daughters, Teresa (Jack) Chatfield of Muscatine, Loretta Brewer of Muscatine and Lynnlea Brewer of St. Croix, WI; 30 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and daughters-in-law, Bobbie Brewer and Nikki Brewer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, June Welsch in 2020; sons, Randell J. Brewer in 2021, and Larry Brewer in 2013; and daughter Crystal Brewer in 2005.
