Lois M. Alexander Standridge Nibarger, 83, of Parsons, died at 8:42 a.m., Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Labette Health in Parsons. Death was sudden and unexpected.

She was born July 22, 1940, in Parsons, to J. Melvin Alexander and Neva E. (McMillen) Alexander. She attended local schools and graduated from Parsons High School.

On October 30, 1957 she and John W. Standridge were married. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2009. Lois and Danny Nibarger were married December 28, 2013 and he passed away on January 11, 2019.

Lois lived in Parsons most of her life and was baptized in the Central Avenue Christian Church in 1961. She was a member of the First Christian Church and attended worship the Sunday before her passing. For a few years she lived in Neodesha. Later she lived in the Spring Hill and Gardner areas for a few years before returning to Parsons in 2019.

In earlier years she had been active in Brownie Scouts, Girl Scouts, as a Cub Scout Den leader, a P.T.A. president, Sunday School teacher, member of a bible study group, Red Cross volunteer, EHU member and Shriner Tin Lizzie secretary-treasurer. She was an avid quilter and seamstress and made countless clothing items for her family and friends.

Surviving are three children, John W. Standridge II (Angela) of Parsons, Christine M. Pullman (John) of Spring Hill and James B. Standridge (Kim) of Parsons; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and another expected; a sister-in-law, Kay Alexander; of Parsons; numerous nieces and nephews and several longtime close friends from childhood. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Neva C. Clarkson, a brother, Dale M. Alexander and two sisters, Dorothy J. Christy and Mary E. Dodds.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Jennifer Dawson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to the Parsons Veterans Memorial. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at P. O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
