Ira was one of eight children of Alexander McIntyre Parker & Caroline Hopkins.
Ira died at David's Island, Westchester County, New York. David's Island was a federal hospital for extremely ill or wounded Confederate prisioners. Ira fought for the Union and was a private in the 9th Regiment Michigan Cavalry, Company C. Ira was possibly a guard at David's Island hospital.
