Brooklyn Standard Union Thursday October 31, 1918
Private Abraham Lincoln Ommundsen was born in Brooklyn nineteen years ago and was a graduate of Public School 27.

He enlisted in April, 1917, in the Fifty first Company, Fifth Regiment, United States Marine Corps and went overseas with that organization two months later.

He was engaged in the battle of Belleau Wood, during which he was fatally wounded.

His mother received a telegram from Washington, June 29 stating that her son had been wounded on June 6 and had died as a result of his wounds that same day.

His home is at 324 Sackett street, where he resided with his mother, Minnie; his father Anders; four brothers, Anders, Jr., Walter, Ommun
[sic] and Eugene, and one sister, Minnie.

✞ Private Abraham Lincoln Ommundsen, son of Norwigian immigrants, is buried at Cypress Hills National Cemetery. His parents accepted the Purple Heart posthumously awarded Abraham by the United States government.
His younger brother Ommund Ommundsen, who fought in World War II, is buried at Long Island National Cemetery, about 30 miles away.
