5th Great Grandfather of Steven James Hall. William Dillin was born in Connecticut in 1768. He enlisted in the War of 1812 and served as Corporal in Captain Joel B. Clark's Co, 2nd Regiment, New York Detached Military from October 9, 1813 to December 15, 1813. He was discharged at Fort George, Upper Canada.

William Dillin had settled with his family in Brownville, NY in 1801.

He is buried with his wife, Matilda, in Pettet Cemetery in Brownville, NY.

"Genealogical and Family History" pg 180 records the following:

"William Dillin was born May 27, 1770, probably in the state of Connecticut. He is supposed to have resided in the vicinity of Utica, New York, whence he removed in 1800 to Brownville, bringing his family thither the following year.
