Clyde was the son of Joseph "Joe" Earn Allen and Norine Jones Allen. Joe was buried in West Lawn in Henryetta and Norine was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood Park, California. Clyde was living in Las Vegas, NV at the time of his death.
He was born in Henryetta OK. He attended school in Tulsa, Byng, Varnum, and Seminole State College in Oklahoma. He graduated from Central Technical Institute in Kansas City, MO with an Associate Degree in Engineering.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a SP5. He served in Lenggries, Germany. Upon release from active duty he served in the Army Reserves in Norman, OK.
In 1966 Clyde volunteered to work in Vietnam for Texas Instruments as an electronics technician in support of the U.S.A.F. aerial surveillance missions in North and South Vietnam. His team assisted in the development of the AC-130 gunship system while in Vietnam. Clyde and two members of his team survived the TET offensive in 1968 after being surrounded for three days by the Viet Cong, armed only with his 9 mm. Browning pistol. After the end of the Vietnam War he was transferred to Holland.
He was then reassigned to work out of Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV in support of the Secret F-117A Nighthawk Stealth fighter. I saw a picture of him standing next to the aircraft.
During Desert Storm, his team worked 24 hours at a time to make sure that the F-117A's missions were successful.
After his retirement from TI he worked for Lockheed Martin Corporation.
He worked/served in the U.S., Germany, England, Holland, Thailand, and Vietnam.
To the family's knowledge he saved the lives of at least 3 individuals in the U.S. during his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife Judy Warner of the home in Las Vegas, brother Carmon Lee Allen and wife Gloria of Oklahoma City, brother Arnold Ray Allen and wife Nancy of Ada OK, and sister Joyce Francis Allen Harber of Tulsa OK, and other relatives. Note: His sister Joyce now has passed away.
Clyde was a very intelligent, caring, patriotic individual. He lived life to the fullest. He died of cancer after a long, courageous battle. He was buried at West Lawn Cemetery in Henryetta OK with full military honors. He continues to be loved and greatly missed by many family members and friends.
