Captain Littlejohn was drowned off the coast of Point Reyes, Mendocino County in 1889. He was in command of the schooner, Otter, at the time owned by Liebes, the furrier of San Francisco. With a crew of 20 men, Littlejohn started up the coast on a seal hunting trip, when just opposite Point Reyes, a violent storm arose and the ship was wrecked. Every man on board was drowned and not a single body nor any part of the vessel ever reached the shore.
