Professional Basketball Player and Coach. He started playing for the Tri-Cities BlackHawks in the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1947. During his time with the Blackhawks, he was part of the All-Rookie team and had an average of 12 points per game. The team made it to the final round of the playoffs in both years he played there. In 1949, the National Basketball Association (NBA) was founded, and he was traded to the Baltimore Bullets, where he played the 1949 and 1950 NBA seasons. He played both point guard and shooting guard and started every game in Baltimore. After he left the NBA, he became the head coach at Elizabethtown College for two years. Later, he became the player/coach of the Lancaster Red Roses for four years, and they made it to the finals three out of those four years. He was selected to the All-EPBL Second Team in 1951. He played college basketball at Penn State and served in the Army during World War II. He went to paratrooper school and was part of the 17th Airborne Division in the Battle of the Bulge. In 1985, he coached Lancaster in the Continental League. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living NBA player, aged 101.
