James A. McCauley was residing at 322 7th Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. Along with his mother Mrs. Katherine McCauley. Who was listed as his next of kin. He was inducted in to United Stated Army on May 4th 1917. His serial number was 1201643. He served as a Private, Company K, 14th New York Infantry National Guard till October 17th 1917; then as a Private, Company B, 102nd Engineers, 27th U.S. Infantry Division till his death on October 12th 1918 of Pneumonia.

He served overseas May 17th 1918 till October 12th 1918.

He was buried in American Cemetery #56 Rouen, France Grave 10, Row D Block R, Plot 1.
