He was born at Griffin in Wayne County, Kentucky on March 8th, 1904, son of Joseph Ryan Denney and Hattie Lovelace Denney.
He was a Republican, an Attorney in the Mount Vernon and Lexington, Kentucky area from 1932 until 1986, a member of the Kentucky State House of Representatives, delegate to the Republican National Convention from Kentucky in 1952, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky from 1953 until 1955, a candidate for Governor of Kentucky in 1955. He was of the Baptist faith, and a member of the Freemasons.
He was survived by his wife, Elinor Elizabeth Denney.
Interment was in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
NOTE: His headstone reads,
