Gail Abbott, 83, passed away on September 3, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Abbott was born in Lakeland, Florida on October 3, 1939, she was raised in Kathleen, Florida and was the daughter to the late Clarence Prine Green and Emilie Wise Green. She moved to Jacksonville in 1958. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, working in her yard and loved spending time with her family.
Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Vestal Elwood Abbott, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Lena Skelton (Eddie): 3 stepchildren: sister Lisle Towsend: 2 granddaughters Kristina Skelton (Jarin) and Katie Skelton (Carter): 2 great grandchildren Hudsyn and Bayler Cobb; she and her late husband had a special bond with Bobby Stearns whom they loved like a son; loving caregivers Nikki, Julia and Dominique and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly including Jessie Lown.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 11, 2023 in the Event Center at Peeples, 14165 N. Main Street (Building C) with Rev. Chris Coram officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home prior to the service. Peeples Family Funeral Home.
