Surviving included a daughter and son; two grandchildren; a stepdaughter; his sister, Orra Harrington of Healdsburg; and brother, Vernon of Sebastopol.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Ralph Emerson Chaney, Jr who died in WW II; and by two brothers, William and Claude.
