Virginia Lee Cox, 81, of Ozark, Arkansas and long time Stigler resident passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born July 10, 1942 at McCurtain to Joe and Samantha Lemley. She grew up at McCurtain where she received her education. She was married to Robert Cox on her birthday and made their home together in Stigler. She operated her in home daycare and was a child provider for many years. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, birds, raising flowers and growing a garden. She mostly loved keeping up with her grandkids of Facebook. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V..F.W. in Stigler. She attended the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Barnes and husband Steve of Denton, TX, Terri McCullar and husband Boyd of Ozark, AR, Robin Hernandez and husband Rueben of Casa Grande, AZ; 9 grandchildren, Heath, Dane, Samantha, Marissa, Jennifer, Beau, Patrick, Crystal, and Derris; 12 great grandchildren, Scarlett, Blake, Eden, Kingston, Lorelai, Balin, Aiden, Aurora, Grace, Corben, Corrie Sue, Camryn, and one the way, Birdie Lou. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Samantha Lemley; her husband, Robert Cox; one son, David Cox.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 11, 2023 at Milton Cemetery with Mr. Boyd McCullar speaking. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Beau Hodges, Patrick Hodges, Heath Stanfield, Dane Stanfield, Derik McKenzie, Jesse Suarez del Real. Burial will follow under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
