John was a veteran of the Normandy Invasion during WWII. He was in the 110th field artillery of the 29th Division. He married Jane Hussey. He was survived by 2 daughters, 6 grand children, 2 great grand daughters, (the third came later), and now he has 11 great great grandkids! He was also survived by his wife Jane, and his sister Raye Lusk. He was predeceased by his parents John Edward Ball and Mary Helen Burker and a brother Irving Elliott. He worked for many years at the plastics plant in Odenton. In his spare time he enjoyed working on his home. When he was younger he had enjoyed boating on the Severn River. In his early years of marriage he had owned a farm. Before that he worked for the railroad where he met Jane, who taught him his job!
In September of 1988, he and mother went to Normandy to see the dedication of the memorial for the 29th Division on Omaha Beach. They enjoyed their trip and on the way home to Arizona, daddy said he wanted to see his sister one more time before he died. They stopped there and when he was in the car on his way to the airport to return to Arizona, he suffered a massive heart attack and died a few days later. He was cremated and his ashes scattered.
