NOTE: Private First Class Kurchey is buried in Cypress Hills National Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY, (Find A Grave Memorial# 2592580). His brother, Sergeant Andrew Kurchey, is also buried in Cypress Hills National Cemetery. Both have a memorial in the Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Granville, Washington County, New York.

Private First Class John Kurchey, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kurchey of Quaker Street, Granville, New York, was reported missing in action in Germany since November 25, in a telegram from the War Department this week. The report was the second of World War II received by Mr. and Mrs. Kurchey, as their oldest son, Sergeant Andrew Kurchey, was reported missing during the invasion of Normandy. He was reported last month as being a German prisoner of war.
