Musician. Best remembered as the frontman, songwriter and co-founder of the rock band, Smash Mouth. Born Steven Scott Harwell in Santa Clara, California, he developed an interest in music. He started out as a rapper in the group F.O.S. (Freedom of Speech) but left the group after hearing "The Chronic" (1992) by Dr. Dre. In 1994, he formed an alternative rock band called Smash Mouth with guitarist Greg Camp, drummer Kevin Coleman and bassist Paul De Lisle. Soon after, they signed with Interscope Records. In 1997, they released their first album, Fush Yu Mang with the song "Walkin' on the Sun" which became a big hit along with the cover song "Why Can't We Be Friends?" by the group "War". Later on, Smash Mouth released their second album in 1999 called Astro Lounge with their song "All Star" and "Then the Morning Comes" which became a hit on the Billboards chart. In 2001, Smash Mouth appeared in the 2001 comedy film "Rat Race" as cameo guests. Later that year, their third album called "Smash Mouth" was released with the remake song "I'm a Believer" by The Monkees but was delayed due to the death of Steve Harwell's son, Presley Scott Harwell, who died that year. Smash Mouth also released the songs "Getting Better" and "Hang On" for "The Cat in the Hat" film in 2003. They also released the song "I Wanna Be Like You" for the 2003 Disney movie "The Jungle Book 2". Additionally, he also composed 2 songs "Beside Myself" and "Everything Just Crazy" for the 2013 South Korean cartoon film "Pororo, the Racing Adventure".
