Mrs. Nancy Younce, 74, widow of the late Martin Younce, and a widely known resident of this city, died early Sunday morning at 12:30 o'clock at her home 219 South Cherry Street, following an illness of about fourteen months with cancer. Mrs. Younce had been bedfast since Christmas. Realizing that the end was near, she wrote a note to her niece, Mrs. Jacob Parker, setting forth plans for her funeral.

Mrs. Younce had always led a devout Christian life and gained much solace during her last days from her religious beliefs. She had been a life-long member of the Methodist Church.

Although her strength was fast ebbing, Mrs. Younce Saturday sang two hymnals, "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "I'm Coming Home." She bore her suffering bravely and was prepared for death.

Mrs. Younce, nee Bowman, was born in Blackford County, on the farm now known as the Ben Bowman farm, south of this city on State Road 3, on July 9, 1858, the daughter of Levi and Elizabeth Bowman. She was the youngest of a family of nine children, only one, a brother, Sylvester Bowman, of Sturgis, Michigan, surviving.

Mrs. Bowman was reared to womanhood on the farm where she was born. After her marriage to Martin Younce, they moved to Wells County and continued to live there until his death about fourteen years ago. To this union one son, William Younce was born. The son was killed about four years ago in an automobile accident.

Surviving nieces and nephews, residing in the vicinity, are Mrs. Nora Wilson, Mrs. Jacob Parker, Mrs. Charles Twibell, Mrs. Laura Vallad, Mrs. Grover Smith, Mrs. Marquerite Bowman and Robert Bowman. Other nieces and nephews are Mrs. Carrie Dryer, Kalamazoo, Mrs. Edith Darnell, White Pigeon, Edward Frank Bowman, Sturgis, Rube Bowman, LeRoy Michigan; Ralph Bowman, Chicago, and Ross and Cosby Bowman of Michigan, and Mrs. Ella Holmes F. Cody, Wyoming, one grandson, William Bowman resides at Warren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from the Grave Methodist Episcopal Church in charge of Rev. H. A. P. Homer. Burial will be made in the Asburg Chapel, north of this city.

Immediately following death, the remains were taken to the Burk & Fenning Funeral parlors and were then taken Sunday evening to the Jacob Parker residence. The body will lay in state there until the hour of the funeral on Tuesday.
