Ottilie Wiese was born in West Prussia. She originally settled in Minnesota. She married Riudolph Wiese and they moved to Oklahoma where they farmed Southwest of El Reno. A doctor in Minnesota had advised her to move to a warmer climate for her health. My grandparents met each other on the ship when they were coming to America. When my grandmother saw my grandfather, she stated that he was the man she was going to marry. (Isn't that a nice story. However, in December 2010, I saw some census papers that showed they immigrated to America several years apart. That means the story is wrong. But I like the story and someone wanted us to believe that and perhaps there is more to it than what the census papers show, so I will leave it uncorrected)
My sister has slight memories of her. Susan said she was nice and they liked to visit her. She lived with her son Emil just a little ways down the road from us. Susan remembered taking off on her own to go visit her but being promptly returned home since no one knew she had left. She remembers Grandma walking her back home, switch in hand.
Before she passed, she had been quite ill and doctor's were not improving her condition. Darlene remembers being told that Daddy took her to a "witch doctor" to try to help her.
When Daddy was in his last years, his memory was very bad. He would often ask where his Moma was. She must have made quite a lasting impression on him.
The third picture is her passport picture. After she had passed and the family was sorting through her belongings, my sister found her passport. My sister was very young at the time and pulled the picture out and threw the passport away.
I know she had a sister, Bertha Schmidt Polzien, and a brother Herman Schmidt.

She was born March 30, 1874 in Germany and came to Iowa when 20 years old. In 1910, she moved to El Reno and had been living in the area since. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church here.
Survivors include four sons, Otto Weise and Emil Weise, El Reno, route 1, Richard Weise, Banner, and Leo Weise, Kingfisher, three daughters. Mrs. George Vogel, Chickasha, Mrs. Arnold Sanders, Kingfisher, and Mrs. Clarence Schultz, Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren
