SUSAN CARTWRIGHT EGGERS
1952 – 2023

Susan Cartwright Eggers was born February 7, 1952 in Seattle, the only child of Dr. Harold Everett Eggers, Jr. and his wife, Katherine Phillips McCollister. She attended St. Nicholas School in Seattle, and later the University of Washington. She worked at the University Village branch of Barnes & Noble for about 10 years, up until the branch closed on December 31, 2011. In her retirement, Susan became more reclusive, although up until the end she was helping to walk the neighbor's dog. She died on June 13, 2023 at the UW Medical Center in Seattle following a heart attack. She was predeceased by her parents and by numerous feline companions, including Emma, Tuppence, Tommy, Sam Spade, Nick Charles, Nora Charles, and Dashiell or "Dash." Susan did not wish to be buried; her cremains are to be scattered.

Those who worked with Susan at Barnes & Noble will remember her as our mystery expert. She was a fount of information. Not only had she read an enormous quantity of mystery stories, but she also knew many authors personally. Other passions included her love for almost all things British (Jacquie Lawson eCards, Coronation Street, tea, anyone?), and, of course, her devotion for her cats (or "moggies").
