Leon Mason Babcock was a member of the Babcock family that were pioneers settlers in the town of Gouverneur. He was the son of Frank M. and Jennie Brown Babcock and attended school in Gouverneur. He married Elma Grace Porter in 1911. They lived on his father's farm for 5 years after their marriage before purchasing their own farm in Gouverneur. Leon was survived by his wife, two daughters, two grandchildren, three sisters and one half-sister.
