Billie Mack "Bill" Haworth, age 93, of Nixa, passed away Friday, September 1, 2023. He was born May 17, 1930, the son of Bert and Mearl Bessie (Blevins) Haworth in Ontario, California. They were visiting Mearl's brothers and sister and working in the orange groves at the time. He attended school at Union City, Highlandville, and Nixa, graduating from Nixa High School in 1948. His first job was at Blair Pottery in Ozark after school. He later worked for Wilson Cheese in Nixa, and consolidated Products. He had to wait until age 18 to get his chauffeur license to haul 200% proof alcohol to Dallas, Texas. He owned a milk route hauling to Mid-America Dairies, worked at Ozark Wholesale Grocery, Princess Crackers which became Keebler Cookies. Bill retired from Mid-America Dairies in 1985. He bought a farm in 1960 and enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. He helped found Suckers Days, and loved to grab and gig suckers. Bill was on the Selective Service Board for 15 years, and the board of Sheltered Workshop of Christian County. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Baptized in 1949, Bill was most recently a member of Union Hill Church of Christ and had served as an Elder. Survivors include Three children, Rebecca Ann Schimek and husband Carl, Bill "Derek" Haworth, and Linda Michele Mawhiney and husband Mike, all of Nixa; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother Gerald Haworth and wife Helen; other relatives and many friends.
Preceding Bill in death were his wife, Marcia, in 2017, a son Cary Stephen Haworth; a daughter-in-law, Linda Butler, three brothers, Gene, Jack and Bob, and a sister, Peggy. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 7, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in McConnell-Bledsoe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM Thursday until service time.
