Louis Cornman "Louie" Askew was born on July 19, 1900 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, the son of Shelia Waters "Shelie" Askew (1871–1939) and Lydia May "Liddie" (Driver) Askew (1876–1937). {While his middle name is spelled Carnman on his Death Certificate, both his Delayed Certificate of Birth and his World War II Draft Registration Card have it as Cornman.}

In Warren County, Tennessee during the 1930 census he was single and living with his parents, and during the 1940 he was still single and in the household of a married sister, and he was later married to Willie -- .

Retired from a grocery store and living on Route 1 in rural McMinnville, Warren County, Louie was 66 years old, married and had arteriosclerosis when he died on December 26, 1966 at Nashville Memorial Hospital in Madison, Davidson County, Tennessee. Burial was the next day in New Hope Cemetery, DeKalb County, Tennessee.

Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with Mrs Alberta Ray - his sister - of Old Hickory, Tennessee as the informant.
