Ruth Atkins, 89 year old resident of Boise City, Oklahoma passed away at her residence on February 13th, 2020.
Ruth was born on December 23rd, 1930 in Uncas, Oklahoma to her mother Allie Younger Scholes and her father Joseph Daniel "Dan" Scholes. She attended school in Jet, Oklahoma, she graduated high school in 1948.
Ruth then moved to Boise City to find work. She worked for Loofbourrow & Loofbourrow in their office as a clerk. On December 22nd, 1951 she was united in marriage to John Austin "Moe" Atkins.
After they were married they moved to Optima, OK. In June 1953 they opened and ran a filling station and store until Moe's retirement. After retirement they returned to Boise City in 2000.
After Ruth retired she was very active in the community in Optima and Boise City until she was 88 years old.
She was an accomplished artist and was so very proud of her paintings. They were exhibited as far away as New York City. She had paintings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Ruth was mother to four children, eight grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Allie and Dan Scholes, her husband Moe in 2012, Two Brothers - Elmo and Bill; Three Sisters - Beatrice, Erma and Pat.
She is survived by her four children, Two Daughters - Danna Ruth Beougher of Flower Mound, TX; Leslie Ann Fulton and husband Tim of Boise, ID; Two Sons - John Austin Atkins ||| of Optima, OK and Cimarron Atkins and wife Bridget of Little Rock, AR; Her grandchildren Cheri, Shayne, Jennifer, Mary, Leah, Laura, Jason and Becca. Numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 2:00 P.M Tuesday February 18th, 2020 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Boise City, Oklahoma.
Private family graveside services will follow after funeral service at Garrett Cemetery outside of Boise City, Oklahoma.
