Part-time Willow resident Robert Hancey, 68, died Oct. 22, 1996, of cancer at his winter home in Lewiston, Utah. A funeral will be held at noon today at the Lewiston 4th Ward Chapel, 16 South Main. Burial with military rites will take place at Lewiston City Cemetery.

Mr. Hancey was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Logan, Utah. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Gen. Douglas MacArthur's staff battalion for 18 months in Japan. He later joined the U.S. Air Force in 1948 And served 20 years before retiring with the rank of major in 1969. He then followed his dream to Alaska, where he lived in a cabin on Nancy Lake. He married Rosalie Spackman, and they spent 24 summers in Willow, building a cabin, fishing and boating with family and friends. The couple spent their winters in Lewiston.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; children and their spouses, Sally and Chandler Baer, Kelly and Marilee Spackman, Blaine and Beth Spackman, Shannon and Tony Deets and Mooch and Nyla Spackman, all of Utah, and Coy and Wendell Mickelsen of Pennsylvania; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Nelson Funeral Home in Lewiston.
