Dan Brown, 74 of Webster City died Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2023 at the church. Burial will be held at a later date in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with caring for Dan and his family.

Daniel J Brown, son of Charles and Luella (Brockman) Brown, was born February 22, 1949 in Algona. He attended Corwith-Wesley schools until the 9th grade, when the family moved to Fort Dodge. Dan graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1968 until he was honorably discharged in 1970. On November 9, 1968, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Pearl Jean Gilbert, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. Prior to his retirement, Dan was employed at Celotex from 1972 – 1990, plant manager for Boone River Creations from 1990 – 1995, and Electrolux from 1995 – 2011.

He is survived by his children, Troy (Sondra) Brown of Wallingford, Jody (Wayne) Draeger of Kamrar, Jamie Brown of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Hunter (Sydney) Brown, Cory Fisher, Peyton Brown, Rodrick Fuller, Abbey (Jacob) Pruismann, Mason (MacKenzie) Groves, Dylan Draeger, Emory Brown, Eli Brown, Micayla Brown; great-grandchildren, Myles Fisher, Avery Brown, Maren and Landrey Pruismann, and Baby Groves due in January 2024, brother, Charlie (Ilene) Brown of Mason City; sister, Hazel Lenz of Leander, TX; brothers-in-law, Ron (Connie) Gilbert of Webster City, Larry (Paulelda) Gilbert, Jim Gilbert, Gary Gilbert all of Fort Dodge and many nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl on January 17, 2018; his parents; sister, Viola (Eldon) Reddel; sister-in-law, Deb Gilbert; nieces, Brenda Krech and Julie Leed.

He was an active member of the Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg, the American Legion Post 191, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association 39-1, a board member of the Boone Valley Ikes and a hunter safety instructor with the DNR. He was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 517 and was a midget league baseball coach for several years. Dan greatly enjoyed riding his Indian motorcycle with friends and his fellow CVMA brothers and sisters, playing cribbage, woodworking, fishing, hunting, and trap shooting. He was a proud Grandfather and Great-Grandfather and loved the time spent with his family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Legion Post 191 or Boone Valley Ikes.
