Marilyn Van Ausdall, 81, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 8, 2008.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Sherman Eastland, chaplain of pastoral care at Northwest Texas Hospital, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.

Mrs. Van Ausdall was born March 9, 1927, in Amarillo to Hallen and Ola May Cornelius. She married Vernon Lloyd Van Ausdall on Jan. 31, 1947, in Amarillo. She managed the mailing department at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch for 40 years. Marilyn and Genie Farley Harriman began their friendship at the age of 9 and continued their every day friendship for more than 70 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lloyd Van Ausdall, on April 27, 1973; two sisters, Dorothy and Betty Lynn; and a brother, Richard.

Survivors include a daughter, Viki Jane Massey and husband Dennis of Amarillo; five nieces, Karen Jane Shepherd of Amarillo, Betty Weatherly of Houston and Patty Henson, Linda Thomas and Karen Thomas, all of Amarillo; a nephew, John Brewer of Amarillo; two brothers, Charles Cornelius and Tuck Cornelius, both of Amarillo; two grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Angela Jane Pruitt and husband Keith and Justin Massey and wife Erica, all of Amarillo; three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Emily Jane and Alex.

The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, 79174-1890.

The family will be at 250 Josephine Circle in Palisades.
