Mrs. Elizabeth Ruth (Newton) Thomas, age 68, of Winnfield, La., passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La.
She was the daughter of the late John Newton and the late Idell McLarty. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Ray Newton; and son, Kevin Weeks.
She is survived by her husband Jewel Thomas of Winnfield, La.;
One Daughter, Dee Carpenter and husband Greg of Calvin, La.
One Step-Daughter, Charla Shelton and husband Jason of Winnfield, La.
One Son, Bruce Weeks and wife Theresa of Winnfield, La.
One Step-Son Von Thomas and wife Stephanie of Winnfield, La.
One Brother, Clyde Newton of Paradise, Calif.
Ten grandchildren, Cary McDonald, Jr., Cole Weeks, Shelley Carpenter, Josh Thomas, Jaime Barron, Lauren Bryant, Sloane Shelton, Sydney Shelton, Sara Paige Weeks, and Gavin Weeks
Four great-grandchildren, Kennedi Carpenter, Aidan Weeks, Christian Carpenter, and Jace Carpenter.
The family will receive friends at The Family Church from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Thursday, April 3, 2008 and from 8:00 AM to service time Friday, April 4, 2008. Funeral services will be held at The Family Church at 10:00 AM Friday, with Rev. Keith Smith, Rev. H.W. Smith, and Rev. Josh Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Calvin, La. under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
Cole Weeks, Von Thomas, Tony Sonnier, Damon Cox, LaVon Hanson, Donny Chandler and Ronnie Ables will serve as pallbearers.
