Betty A. Whitney, 79, of Delavan, MN died April 4, 2008, in Mesa, AZ.She was born in Lakota, IA ,on January 10, 1929 to Hillard and Freeda (Nelson) Abbas. Betty was an active member in the Delavan Methodist Church, Delavan Book Club, Farm Bureau, Faribault County Fair, 4-H, County Extension project group and spent numerous volunteer hours at DHS Inc.Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years William "Bill" Whitney Jr. of Delavan; children: Terry (Janice) Whitney of Delavan, Wendy (Don) Nickel of Kiester, Tracy (Kay) Whitney of Mapleton and Tom Whitney of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren: Crystal (Larry) Phillips, Luke (Nicole) Whitney, Brian Whitney and Jodie Whitney; four great-grandchildren: Natalie Whitney, Grant Phillips, Preston Whitney and Keenan Whitney; siblings: Anna Tjaden, Elsie Purdy, Walter Abbas, Margie Wallace and Gloria Purdie.She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Art Abbas, Ernest Abbas, and sisters Sylvia Heyes, and Violet Johnson.A memorial service will be held this summer in Delavan with a final resting place in Lura Cemetery.
