Mr. Carnahan was born Aug. 15, 1909, in King Hill, Idaho, one of seven children.
He was well known in McMinnville as a supporter of Linfield, particuarly its athletics department. He attended Linfield baseball and football games and supported the college's annual Partners-in-Progress fund drive.
He was an avid athlete, coach and sports fan. Family members said he was honest, loyal and generous of heart and spirit.
A longtime woodsman, Mr. Carnahan was harvesting Christmas trees for others at the time of his death.
Survivors include four children, Scott Carnahan of McMinnville, David Carnahan of Shelton, Wash., Barbara Carnahan Allen of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Rosemary LaSalata of Uhl, N.D., along with numerous grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna, to whom he was married for almost 53 years; by his second wife, Lucille, to whom he was married for 12 years; and by his six siblings.
