Alma Preston, 89, went home to the Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2023. She passed away while living in the home of her daughter Rose and son-in-law Terry Bass.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Howard Preston, baby daughter Sharon Preston, son William "Bill" Preston, and grandson Shawn Murphy.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Preston of Louisa, KY and Edward (Bonnie) Preston of Lillington, NC; daughter Rose (Terry) Bass of Erwin, NC. Grand children, Kristy (Shawn) Jakeway, grand daughter-in-law Michelle Murphy, Jessica (Tim) Toews, Megan Cyrus, Adam (Beth) Preston, Wendy Willis, Alex, Bruce and Karen Preston, Russell (Georgia) Preston, Christy Bass Walsh and T.J. Bass. Great grand children include Samara, Logan and Nadeira Jakeway, April and Faith Bryant, Nadia and Marley Toews, Nathan Wilson, Raelyn Cyrus, Dakota, Zane and Teagan Murphy, Caleb and Abby Preston, Willow Preston, Markus, Elijah, Leanna and Shelby Bass. Great great grand children, Dillon, Aiden and Sam Bryant. Surviving sisters include Herma Coons, Judy Childers, Lois Chaffin, Mary Bowen, Naomi Scott and Cary Smith along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Alma was a homemaker who loved to make quilts and took great pleasure in her grand children and great grandchildren. She loved pizza, cigarettes and telling jokes.

Funeral Services are to be held in the Young Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be in the Young Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
