After some financial misfortune, Thomas moved his family to Hull.
On 14 Jan 1829, Thomas was admitted to the Sculcoates Refuge. The informant was his wife. At that time, he was a Customs Officer, aged 46.
Thomas was living at the Sculcoates Refuge for the insane when he died, just 4 months before the birth of his last child Ann.
