Julius Allen Driver (J A Driver) came to Freestone Co. in 1852 with his father and many of his relatives. He was most often called 'Allen'. Born April 20, 1836. He was the son of Eliza and Julius Driver. On January 3, 1861 he married Sarah Jane Groover. in Thomas Co., Georgia. He joined the Confederate Army in August, 1861, by enlisting at Fairfield in the "Active Company" of Henry Jones' 19th Brigade, a part of Braxton Bragg's Cavalry. He had 6 children, Johnn Daviss Driver, Thomas Williams Driver, Julia (1869-1870 buried at Cotton Gin Cememtery), Sallie Driver Colbert, Mary C. Driver Hale, and Mills Driver (1887-1885). Many of his relatives are buried in the Driver and Oakwood cemeteries.
