Son of Joseph Adams and Lydia Hinckley Adams. He and his siblings were orphaned as children and raised by the Andrews family in Hingham. His sister, Lydia, is buried with the Andrews family in Hingham. He moved to New Orleans with the cabinetmaker that he was apprenticed to, at a young age. He married Lucinda Brengle and had a number of children in New Orleans where he had a cabinetmaking shop on Canal Street. He died in Cuba in 1834.
