She was married to Albert West Gary (buried in Lakewood Cemetery, Jackson, MS) on January 30, 1896 at St. Andrews Cathedral on Capitol Street, Jackson, MS. They had seven children together. She died from complications of her eighth pregnancy. Went by the name "Mary" until her marriage. She didn't want to be known as "Mary Gary". After her marriage, she started using the name "Mamie". Daughter of James Foster Moore (Confederate Soldier) and Julia Catherine Terrett Moore. Grandparents Carter Harrison Moore and Mary Arena Thomas; William Henry Terrett and Amanda Teresa Corley. Her nephew, Thomas Gary, told me the story of her funeral. He said she was buried in a coffin, not a casket, with a glass panel. She was carried to the graveyard in a glass paneled horse drawn hearse. He spoke of how beautiful she looked in death. He was a very young child at the time but her funeral made quite an impression on him. He said that was one of his earliest memories. People would comment how none of her daughters were as pretty as their mother, which I'm sure hurt their feelings. I thought they all looked just like their mother, equally as beautiful. Thomas Gary was my grandmother Lucile's double first cousin. He was my double first cousin twice removed. My grandmother's parents were brother and sister to Thomas' parents so genetically, they were more like siblings than typical first cousins. After Mary Amanda died, my great grandfather, Albert Gary remarried a woman named Allie Robinson. Together they had eight more children. His children from his first marriage were all olive complexioned with dark hair and brown eyes like their mother. Miss Allie was a blue eyed blond like he was so all the children from his second marriage had this coloring. The half siblings would always argue with the double first cousins about who was more kin to the first set of children. Genetically, it would be the double first cousins. The cousins were also olive complexioned with brown eyes like their mother, Eulalie, Mary Amanda's sister.
