Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, 9 Apr 2008 from the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Dr. Robert F. Browning and Dr. J. Truett Gannon officiating. Interment will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pressly was very active in the Canton community; she graduated in 1936 from Brenau College where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She later served a term on the Board of Trustees of the college; she served as the president of Canton Elementary PTA and president of the Service League of Cherokee County. Mrs. Pressly was a member of First Baptist Church Canton where she loved working with the 3 year olds in Sunday school. The past few years she was under the watchcare of Smoke Rise Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Stratford Burns of Stone Mountain; grandson, Kevin and Stacey Burns of Decatur, Alabama; great-grandchildren Kailyn and Zachary Burns and another grandson, Gareth Burns of Charlotte, North Carolina; 1 nephew and 5 nieces.
Predeceased by her son-in-law Julian Christian Burns.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the department of your church that ministers to the three year olds in memory of Marie B. Pressly.
Sosebee Funeral Home, Canton, Georgia. is in charge of arrangements.
