Edgar O. Miller of Cardin died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo., after an illness. He was 70.

Mr. Miller lived in Cardin for 35 years.

He worked for the county as a road grader operator for 38 years and as a road foreman for 11 years. He was a member of Highway Tabernacle Church in Cardin.

He was married to Jackie Sue Burdge for 34 years. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include five sons, Bobby Miller and Jeffery Miller, both of Goodman, Mo., Rocky Miller of Exeter, Mo., Chuck Smith of Broken Arrow and Mathew Smith of Wyandotte; three daughters, Christina Meyers of Exeter and Leilani Smith and Lori Carrier, both of Cardin; two brothers, David Miller of Hot Springs, Ark., and Ronnie Miller of Little Rock, Ark., one sister, Jean Magby of Hot Springs, and 18 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Joe Smith, and three brothers, Curtis Miller, Glen Miller and Russell Miller.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Highway Tabernacle Church in Cardin. The Rev. Ray Clonts will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Powell, Bill Morgan, Allen Miller, Alvin Kirk, Eddie Wayne Kirk and Gene Woods.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher.
