George R. Abney, 54, Kokomo, died Monday, May 4, 1981, in Kokomo at St. Joseph Hospital, after an extended illness.

He was born August 25, 1928, in Lebanon, the son of Jacob and Conzie(sic) Reagon Abney. On February 2, 1976, he married Wanda McKinney, and she survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Robert of Peru, Ronald, Steven and Gerald, all of Kokomo, and Michael of Tipton; a daughter, Jill Beiber of Kokomo; three stepsons, Kenny Taylor of Galveston, Mark Pentland and Robert Pentland, Jr., both of Kokomo; three stepdaughters, Norma Hayden, Linda Dockerty and Paula Bowser, all of Kokomo; two sisters, Hazel Watts of Florida and Stella Likens of Lafayette; a brother, Lewis Abney of Kokomo; and 22 grandchildren. A sister is deceased.

Mr. Abney had lived in Kokomo and Galveston most of his life, and was retired from Delco Electronics Division. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and attended First Landmark Baptist Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Murray Funeral Home, Kokomo Chapel, the Rev. Tom Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Albright Cemetery.
