In 1800, Adam bought a thousand acres of land on Elbow Creek, Ephram's Island, Willow Branch, Providence Swamp, and West Side. Adam became a very wealthy man. His will was written February 18, 1848, and it was probated April 14, 1848. His Tombstone in Island Cemetery, which he gave the land for, does not have any dates on it. However, from the time his will was written and it was probated, I would say he died in March, 1848.

Adam had twelve children, all but Nathaniel are mentioned in his will. Nathaniel was still living because he was in the 1850 census. He had separated from his wife, Barbara Bobo. whether this had anything to do with Adam leaving him out of his will, it is not known. According to his will,
Adam left the following: General Brown- $400 and two slaves; Charles - land and two slaves; Willis- $400 and two slaves; Elizabeth- at her marriage- three slaves; Alexander- land and 2 slaves; Jacob Franklin- land and two slaves; Jeanett- three slaves; Bennett- $400 and two slaves; Edward- land; Relvey- three slaves; Mahala- three slaves.

Adam and Elizabeth have small monument with his name on one side and Elizabeth on the other. "In Memory Of"
Adam was the son of George Nicholas Shuler, Sr. and Anna Margaret HUTTS He was married to Elizabeth Snell.
